Group N

This is the first group from St. George's

In order of appearance from left to right: Taonga, Sisi, Cris, Valerio

Our group will be investingating which of the following areas of the bathroom has the highest bacteria concentration.

The 8 areas we collected bacteria from are:
- Soap Machine
- Hand-drier botton
- Toilet door handle
- Toilet seat
- Flush button
- Toilet lid
- Drinking fountain button
- The last piece of toilet paper

Day 1: Monday

We went around to the girls' bathroom, and collected 2 samples of bacteria from each of the 8 locations. To do this, we used cotton buds to swab the 8 different surfaces.
After we collected the samples, we placed them in petri-dishes, and put them into an incubator. We will leave them in there for 48 hours (or more if needed).

Day 2: Wednesday

After 48 hours, the petri-dish with the largest bacterial colony was the sample collected from the toilet lid. We are now going to replace them in the incubator for another 24 hours.
As we wait for the bacteria to grow, we are working on our group video, that we will post onto here later on.

Day 3: Thursday

We have taken out the bacteria after 74 hours in the incubator. There was one crucial mistake with our experiment: that the petri-dishes were placed upside down, so that the water did not evaporate from the petri-dishes, but stayed inside and covered the bacteria growing inside.
